About

This genealogy presents our research into the history of our branch of the Catena family, and its relations. We apologize for using password protection on some pages and posts, but we must preserve the privacy of living members of our extended family.

In this genealogy, given names (first names) link to biographies (who did what), and surnames (family names) link to lineages (who begat whom). We present names given in the former СССР in the Cyrillic alphabet.

Blanks and question marks denote unknown or uncertain information, and apply to the information in the closest enclosing set of parentheses, or to the previous word or number.

Ahnentafel

Each of these "ancestor tables" lists direct ancestors (parents, grandparents, etc.) of all the children of one couple. These tables purposely do not include other relations, by blood or law, of any direct ancestors. That information is available in lineage posts.

The tables number the children 1, as the first generation. Within each generation, the tables list paternal ancestors first, then maternal ancestors. So double a person's number to find the father, and then add one to find the mother.

Biographies

Each biography post summarizes information unique to that person.

Lineages

Each lineage post describes an eldest-son line of descent. Each other son begins his own lineage. Only lineage posts record marriages, children, and events which affected entire families, to reduce duplicate text in biographies.

Narratives

Each narrative post describes an event in detail, possibly referring to many people from different families. There are no structural rules for these posts.
